Do you want to eat healthy, be active and feel good? If so, then this week was made just for you!
In celebration of the 20th Annual Healthy Weight Week, we would like to share a few tips to help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight – which, in turn, will hopefully help you live a longer, happier and healthier life!
It’s no secret that our bodies change as we get older. Our metabolisms have a strange way of slowing down, and the pounds somehow find a way of adding up. Those extra pounds can also increase our risk of developing chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and heart disease.
But there is hope! By following three easy recommendations from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, we can all achieve a healthy weight!
1.) Eat and drink fewer calories – Calories add up, so make sure you are not consuming more than you should each day. The total number of calories you need will depend on how active you are.
2.) Be more active – Burning extra calories through exercise is a great way to keep a healthy weight. Check with your doctor first, though, before beginning any exercise program.
3.) Make better food choices – You don’t have to completely give up your favorite treats, but try to incorporate more fruits, vegetables and whole grains into your diet. And watch those portion sizes!
Maintaining a healthy weight is all about finding a balance between the calories you consume and the calories you burn. By making small changes in your diet and exercise routine, you will hopefully feel better and see a difference in how you look!
